SIGNATURE OF A PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE MOHAMMED VI POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY AND THE OFFICE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE COOPERATION
The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and the Office for the Development of Cooperation (ODCO) signed on September 24, 2020, a partnership agreement for a five-year period for the promotion of the social and solidarity economy sector in Morocco and Africa.
This partnership is in line with the efforts made by the two institutions to support and strengthen the cooperative sector and its ecosystem in Morocco and Africa in a spirit of innovation, experimentation and mutual collaboration. The objective is to establish synergies encouraging the implementation of support and capacity building programs for social inclusion through the economy.
In terms of research and development, UM6P intends to bring its expertise through its laboratory dedicated to cooperatives, in order to develop training and innovative support offers for actors of the social and solidarity economy in Morocco and Africa.
The agreement also defines the areas of collaboration to give rise to specific agreements for the implementation of actions or projects contributing to the development of the Social and Solidarity Economy sector in Morocco and Africa, including :
- The development of vocational training offers for actors of the social and solidarity economy in Morocco and Africa;
- The development of innovative support and accompaniment devices allowing the reinforcement of the capacities of the actors of the Social and Solidarity Economy, in particular the Moroccan and African cooperatives, in order to encourage their acceleration and to improve the competitiveness of the sector and its impact;
- Promotion of research-action and experimentation of new approaches and innovative tools related to the development of the social and solidarity economy;
- This convention will also enable the two institutions to strengthen the exchange of data and best practices in terms of initiatives promoting innovation and excellence of social and solidarity economy actors and the creation of sustainable impact on their local and national ecosystems.
About Cooplab :
CoopLab is a spin-off of the Social Innovation Lab (SIL), based at UM6P. This laboratory is intended to be an active skills space open to its local, regional and national ecosystem and aims to support populations and private or public organizations in the reflection and development of their social projects. Through the establishment of Cooplab, SIL's ambition is to respond effectively and sustainably to the needs of cooperatives in terms of support and development.

About the Office for Development of Cooperation (ODCO)
The Office for the Development of Cooperation (BDECo), a public body, was created on September 18, 1962 as an administrative structure under the presidency of the Council of Government. With the importance given by the public authorities to the cooperative sector, the need for its restructuring became obvious; hence its conversion into a public institution with legal personality and financial autonomy and autonomy called the Office for the Development of Cooperation (ODCO) in accordance with the Dahir of August 3, 1975 with precise attributions mainly oriented towards the support of cooperatives in the areas of training, information and legal support.
