On December 28, 2020, Abdelhamid ADDOU, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc and Hicham EL HABTI, President of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), signed a global partnership agreement for research and innovation, and launched in this framework the co-creation of a Digital Innovation Lab (DILAB). This open skills space, active in action research, training, consulting and project deployment, will engage all Royal Air Maroc employees, teachers, researchers, students and staff of UM6P around a collaborative innovation approach. Objective: to enable both parties to co-develop and deploy innovative projects with high added value.
UM6P and Royal Air Maroc will thus combine their efforts to develop a digital and intelligent component around the products offered by the airline, whether to passenger customers or other categories of customers, to explore new opportunities for innovation aligned with the strategic and operational challenges of Royal Air Maroc and to develop innovative ideas adapted to market realities and international trends in the sector. The DILAB will also allow the parties to experiment on an ongoing basis, to test new solutions with a community of users and to develop win-win partnerships with external players, with the support of UM6P's global network.
To do this, the Digital Innovation Lab will mobilize multidisciplinary skills (researchers, professionals, business teams, development agents...), in the areas related to the development of the defined projects.
Royal Air Maroc will contribute to the implementation of this DILAB through the mobilization of human resources. The Company will co-animate and pilot the DILAB platform and its initiatives and will be in charge of the deployment of initiatives or projects resulting from the laboratory's work.
For its part, UM6P, University of Research, Innovation and Training of Excellence, will provide Royal Air Maroc with the infrastructure and logistical and human resources necessary for the creation of the DILAB . The university will also support Royal Air Maroc in setting up partnerships in the digital field with UM6P's partner universities.
The DILAB's action will take the form of several initiatives or projects that will be subject to monitoring, reporting and control protocols. Today, DILAB is launching its first initiative for the development of an operational model for demand prediction.
